Modern insert materials sit behind the face to absorb impact energy before it reaches the shaft. A forged blade and an insert-equipped cavity back can produce nearly identical ball flight while feeling completely different in the hands — we let you compare both directly, and check dynamic lie angle on every set, since even a well-cushioned insert can't fully offset off-center contact.

The Right Sole Reduces Both Chunked Shots and the Shock That Comes With Them

Too little bounce on firm turf lets the leading edge dig, producing the fat-strike jolt many golfers associate with wedge practice. We check your typical attack angle and turf, then match bounce and grind so the sole interacts with the ground the way it's meant to — grip compound matters more here than expected, since wedges get swung shorter but far more often.
